The
City Administrator is appointed by the Mayor with Common Council
confirmation to an indefinite term of office and acts under the
executive authority of the Mayor. The position is responsible
to the Common Council for the overall coordination and direction
of the day-to-day operations of City government unless otherwise
specified by Statute. The position is charged with providing the
Council policy information and recommendations, implementation
of Council policies, preparation of the annual budget for Common
Council consideration and supervision of department directors
and managers.

The
Office of the Municipal Clerk is the oldest among public servants,
along with the tax collector, and is a time-honored and vital
part of local government, providing a professional link between
the citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government
at other levels.
