Library Cards

Applying for a Library Card

  • Library cards are free of cost
  • Residents who are 18 and over can request a library card
  • Bring proof of residency (e.g. driver's license, phone bill, rent receipt, etc.) and apply
  • Children under 18 can apply for a card with their parents' or guardians' permission and signature
  • Your Delafield Public Library card is honored at any CAFE library in Waukesha County

Replacing a Library Card

  • Please bring proof of residency
  • A new library card will be issued to you for a fee of $1.00

Loan Periods & Fines

  • The following materials have a 3 week loan period:
    • Books, Browsing Books, Science Book Bag Kits, Audiobooks, Playaways, MP3-CD Books, Music CDs, Magazines
  • The following materials have a 2 week loan period:
    • Television series
  • The following materials have a 1 week loan period:
    • DVDs, Rental DVDs, Rental Television series, Video Games, Board Games, Craft Kits, Science Activity Kits
  • The fine for any late material is $0.15 per day
  • All items checked out at DPL have a 3-day grace period, except Out-of-County Inter-Library loans
  • Out-of-County Inter-Library loans periods vary
  • Items returned after 1/2 hour prior to closing will be checked in the following day
Fees
  • Fees are charged because of damage or loss to items checked out
  • Please ask at the circulation desk for the fee schedule
  • A service charge of $15.00 will be added to your overdue account if it is sent to the Unique Management Service for collection
